“It was a very good idea-but we have to forget it.Again.”
Dear diary,
This book was such a perfect autumn read. It seems like opposites do attract when it comes to a stranded pop-star and a small-town baker. Amelia Rose, know as Rae Rose to her fans is completely burnt-out after years of maintaining her “princess of pop” image. Inspired by her favourite Audrey Hepburn film, Roman Holiday, on an instinctive though she drives off in the middle of the night to Rome… Rome, Kentucky.
When Noah Walker finds Amelia stranded on his front lawn with a broken-down car, he’s less than thrilled. And when she refuses to step out of the car until she has proof he isn’t a serial killer, he makes it clear that he has neither the time nor the patience for celebrity problems. Between running the pie shop his grandmother left him and keeping his nosy but lovable neighbours out of his business, Noah has enough on his plate already. Still, against his better judgment, he agrees to let Amelia stay in his guest room—just until her car is fixed. After that, she’s on her own.
Soon, Noah starts to see a different side to Rae rose- she’s Amelia; kindhearted, goofy, fun-loving and yet a bit lonely from years in the public eye. His promise to himself to stay out of her way crumbles, and he becomes her tour guide. Soon, Amelia will have to return to her glamorous life on tour. But until then, Noah is determined to show her all the simple joys of small-town life that she’s been missing, while she helps him open his heart to the possibility of something more.
Amelia can’t help but fall for the cute, grumpy and extremely caring pie-shop owner. But even Audrey had to leave Rome eventually…
This book was a completely feel-good book, and I loved the cosy small town setting, It gave Gilmore Girl vibes, and honestly I was all in for it. What I loved the most is how neither Noah or Amelia wanted each other to give up their own lives to make it work, bur rather they made their lives work around each other in the cutest ways possible.
