“I’d read a poem once in English class, about what it meant to master the art of losing. I was an artist”
Dear diary,
This book was so nerve wrecking, I loved it! From the minute I started this book, I was drawn to the characters and the story. Set in Washington D.C it’s quintessentially based on politically powerful and well-off people. And when powerful people need their scandals to disappear, they need a fixer.
Tess Kendrick is sent to stay with her older sister, Ivy, in Washington. She has no idea that Ivy is a “fixer” or how extensive her reputation and influence are. When Tess enrolls at the elite Hardwicke School, she quickly learns that simply being Ivy’s sister is enough to make people eager to get on her good side.
After saving a girl—who she later discovers is the Vice President’s daughter—from being bullied, Tess unexpectedly becomes Hardwicke’s very own high school fixer.
Secrets start to pile up, and as each sister leads a double life, their worlds collide when a scandal from the school hall reaches the most powerful people in the city. Tess needs to uncover who’s behind the play for power before becoming a target herself. In the process, she not only uncovers crucial information about the case but also makes shocking discoveries about her own identity.
This book had me ON THE EDGE. Specially the last few chapters. I loved how not a single moment felt stretched out and how every piece of the puzzle slowly fell into place.
The relationship between Ivy and Tess was complex, but it developed beautifully and was gradually revealed as the story progressed. I am definitely going to buy the next book of the series(right after my exams end haha). All I can say is, Jennifer Lynn has done it again!
