“I’d rather take coffee than compliments just now.”
Dear diary,
This book is a timeless, coming of age novel, capturing the lives of the four March sisters- Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy- and they navigate life in 19th century America, each with their own problems.
Meg is sensible and caring, Jo is bold, independent, and dreams of becoming a writer, Beth is shy and selfless, and Amy is ambitious and artistic. Growing up in the Civil War era, despite financial hardships, they are rich in love, values, and creativity. This book reads like a lifelong friendship, each page a warm and comforting embrace as you laugh and weep with the characters.
This book will always be one I keep going back to. Each character has a strong and prominent personality, with so much depth. The book explores the difficulties of womanhood, addressing issues like gender, romantic relations, and financial struggles during wartime. This book will have you crying and smiling at the same time!
