Betting on you, Lynn Painter

“When I’m a hundred years old, I’ll still be able to picture you in that black dress with your bare feet and wild little smile”

Dear diary,

I started this book on my fourteen-hour flight to Washington D.C., and by the time we landed, I had finished it. My family looked at me like I was a psycho because I hadn’t slept a wink. I was glued to my book, and I refused to sleep until I finished it. Yes, it was that good.

While on a flight to Omaha after her parents’ divorce, Bailey finds herself confined for ten hours with an unsavory and thick-headed stranger – Charlie. They are like the North and South pole. Bailey is careful, cheery, and her motto is definitely not to go with the flow. While Charlie is humorous, cool, and insanely caring (she just didn’t know that yet). So, imagine her shock when after two years, Charlie turns out to be her co-worker at her new job. But this time, they find themselves talking with each other, and even laughing… but they both blatantly agree they aren’t friends, just ‘co-workers’.

When they notice two of their co-workers flirting, they end up making a bet because Charlie doesn’t think members of the opposite sex can just be friends, and Bailey is determined to prove him wrong. One thing leads to another, and Bailey and Charlie end up ‘fake dating’ to cause unpleasantness between Bailey’s mom and her new boyfriend. However, in the thick of all their playful banter and fake romance, Charlie starts to have feelings for Bailey and is scared to lose her if she finds out about this crush. Exactly what Charlie wanted to avoid happens, and Bailey realizes she’s into him too.

But it turns out, Charlie made more than one bet—a bet that may have involved Bailey. Is there going to be a happy ending, or is their relationship doomed because of Charlie’s secret?

Charlie is the best. I fell for him way before Bailey did. His caring, loving, and fun nature, and him dropping everything when Bailey needed him. Not to mention how he’s extremely good-looking. I hundred percent would have melted in his presence, and I am pretty sure any girl would…
