“Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!”
Dear diary,
This is the final book of the Hunger Games series- and might I add, the saddest and most gruesome one. The story kept me up for several nights in a row, because I kept thinking what if that didn’t happen? I could never ever have predicted what was going to happen in this book- the plot was so well written and executed.
Katniss Everdeen- the girl on fire- has survived, even though her district has been destroyed. Gale escaped, her family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol and District 13 really does exist. A rebellion is unfolding and Katniss is the center of it.
Katniss was rescued from the arena of the cruel Quarter Quell by design. She has unknowingly been part of a revolution that started much before. District 13 is out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone seems to be a part of these carefully laid plans- everyone expect Katniss. The success of this depends on her acting like a pawn and become the rebels’ Mockingjay.
She must put aside her distrust and anger, try to trust the environment and people around her as especially keep hope of Peeta’s rescue and recovery- physical and mental.
I couldn’t put down this book. It was so fast-paced and jarring with constant turns in the plot. The best part of the book would have to be the ‘game’ Peeta and Katniss played… ‘ real or not real?’ ( no spoilers, but it was too heartwarming).
I really hoped there would be more books to this series- I absolutely loved all three.
