From the embers, Aly Martinez

“They say when it rains, it pours. For going on two years, that had been exactly the case for us. Drama and tragedy, one after another. It was good to see that joy also came in storms.”

Dear diary,

This is by far one of my favorite books I have read so far. It’s definitely not going to be easy to get over this one. This was a book about hope, love and new beginnings amidst betrayal, broken faith, and tragedy. I was reading this during my free classes in school and time just seemed to fly. Just one page and then I’ll work- I had told myself. AS.IF.

Bree and Eason survive the fire that takes their partners- Rob and Jessica. But they lost more than just their partners that day. Eason lost his best friend Rob and Bree lost her best friend Jessica. Neither of them are truly alive after that night. As a single dad with nowhere to go, Eason moves in with Bree- who’s trying to manage her two kids as well as her million dollar company that’s struggling. Despite their old tensions and conflicts with each other, they comfort each other over the new grief they share, and find strength within each other.

Eason may have carried Bree out of the fire, but she might just be the one who saves him. Over time, as they both start to heal, find happiness in their life with the kids and start falling for each other- they don’t know one of the worst blow is yet to come. Secrets and deceit from the past threaten to ignite and life seems to become even more unfair to them.

This book had incredible plots, some so tragic I had to shut the book to gather myself. It ripped my heart out but even put back the pieces.

Bree and Eason’s love was born from the embers and together they could go up in flames… but everything would be fine, just as long as they get through it together. It didn’t test their love, but made it impenetrable.
