“To be fair, when the alarm goes off, there’s barely even any smoke rising out of the oven”
Dear diary,
This was such a fresh read. I absolutely loved the platonic ‘friendship’ between Pepper and Jack, how both their families fast-food chain were competing but deep down both their parents had some history and how all’s fair in love and cheese.
Pepper is the swim team captain, chronic overachiever and an all around perfectionist. Her personal life is falling apart, but her family’s fast food chain is thriving, thanks to Pepper, who is barely holding things together while secretly managing the Big League Burger Twitter account. Jack on the other hand is the class clown and a constant prick in Pepper’s way. When he’s not trying to overshadow his extremely popular twin, he’s working in his family’s deli.
While Pepper and Jack are having a full on Twitter war as Big League Burger stole Jack grandma’s iconic grilled cheese recipe, they are unknowingly falling for eachother texting on an anonymous chat box app Jack built.
Their relationship deepens and their online shenanigans escalate- their battle gets even more personal. But they can’t ignore that they were destined for the most unexpected, roller coaster of a romance.
I loved the whole idea of this book, the crazy baking recipes, how Pepper carries a bottle of caramel in her backpack and how Jack completely adores her for every little thing she does.
You jump, I jump Jack?
