The One, John Marrs

“Let the world start making it’s own mistakes again.”

Dear diary,

This book shook my world. It messed with my mind, it gave me chills, and at some points, I had nail marks on my face because of how tightly I was gripping it. It’s a psychological thriller written in the most absurd way.

One straightforward mouth swab is all it takes. A quick DNA test to find your perfect match. The one you’re genetically made for. Millions have taken the test, craving to find true love. Five more people meet their match; Mandy, Christopher, Jade, Nick and Ellie. But even soulmates have secrets, more startling, terrifying, and deadlier than others.

I am the kind of person who likes to sleep by ten, but this book kept me up long after the lights went off. Sleep felt secondary. Though I should add, this book is not for the faint-hearted ones. It may seem like a romance book, but it’s gory and compelling to its core. At some points it was too bloody and revolting for me, but the storyline was such that I couldn’t put it down. The plot was so well thought, with some unbelievably unexpected twists! This book made me question the idea of soulmates and what it actually means. It so unorthodox yet mind-boggling.

After reading this book would you want to meet someone the universe and science says you’re meant to be with?
